Welcome to East Athens
Nestled just across the North Oconee River from Downtown, East Athens—often called the “Eastside”—offers a unique blend of convenience, diversity, and value. From student-friendly condos to sprawling mid-century homes on wooded lots, East Athens provides something for just about everyone. This area stretches down College Station Road and Barnett Shoals, and even blends into the charming community of Winterville, which many locals consider its own special enclave.
With a mix of established neighborhoods, new developments, and easy access to the University of Georgia and downtown, the Eastside is a top choice for first-time buyers, families, and UGA faculty and staff. It's also home to one of Athens’ largest parks and a variety of restaurants and shops that give it its own distinct personality.
